Married at First Sight UK 2022 RECAP: Matt reveals one ‘regret’ over Whitney as April makes huge promise to George

- Are the MAFS weddings legally binding?
- Do the MAFS contestants get paid?
- How many previous couples are still together?

MARRIED At First Sight returned to our screens last night for the homestay episode, as the couples braved the outside world for the first time.

April and George took a massive step, as the bride promised she "would never hurt him."

Meanwhile, Whitney and Matt faced the experts as they revealed if the runaway couple would be allowed to stay on the show.

Whitney explained how deep her feelings were for Matt, and the experts were ultimately convinced, allowing them to STAY despite not being married.

However, Matt opened up on social media, admitting that he "regrets" not telling Gemma about his feelings for Whitney until the dinner party.

“At times, we’ve seen him almost repel from Gemma – he shows this by crinkling his nose – suggesting he does not feel romantically connected to her.”

He continued: “When Gemma made complimentary comments towards Matt, we saw his head turn down and to the side – a move made when someone feels discomfort or shame, suggesting Matt found her comments cringeworthy,” he explained.

Are the MAFS weddings legally binding?

Despite exchanging vows and rings, marriages on Married at First Sight UK are not legally binding.

A spokesperson for the show told Metro.co.uk: “Following the Australian format, rather than legal marriages, the couples will make a lifelong commitment to one another at a glamorous ceremony.

“This is overseen by a wedding celebrant, that includes guests, bridal gowns, dancing, speeches and cake.”

Although the weddings aren’t technically legal, couples can choose to get married for real at the end of the series.

“I can’t tell you the last time I wore jeans, because they can fit the waist, but can’t fit my bum properly.

“It was the worst pain I’ve ever had. They put a rod into your stomach and chop the fat up, like keyhole incisions. You’re supposed to put weight on beforehand, as much as you can, because the more weight you have the more can go into your bum.”
