Hamza Yassin slams 'woke' Strictly comments as 'nonsense'

The show has been branded as "woke" and "tick-boxing" for including same sex couples and dancers with disabilities.

He was joined with Jowita Przystal on Steph's Packed Lunch on Thursday, where they discussed the comments.

When asked on the allegations, Hamza said: "In the kindest way possible, I think it's nonsense."

He continued: "Inclusivity is the most important and more importantly, representation.

"Never in a million years did we think that we would need representation, but we do need it.

"To see someone of a similar sex, age, ethnicity, height, whatever it is, body size. If Hamza can do it, and he's a big man, then maybe I can do it, that is what it's all about!"

John Thwaite slams 'disgusting' comments about Ellie Simmonds

Last year's Strictly Come Dancing runner up was "really" angry over the comparison of Ellie to last year's Rose Alying-Ellis.

He took to Instagram to defend the amazing Paralympian, after she had been compared to Rose, who is deaf, just because they both have disabilities, which are nothing alike.

John called out those drawing the comparison, saying: In using the comparison between Rose and Ellie, what I am reading is, if a disability or an impairment isn’t visible and it’s not awkward, and it doesn’t break the mould of what’s been before, then it’s digestible."

He said: “But as soon as it becomes a little bit different to watch, then [the writer] doesn’t want to see it, basically. Which I say is bigotry, it’s disgusting, it isn’t necessary to say those things.”

“And please don’t compare me to Ellie [Simmonds], we both have completely different life experiences that are just not comparable.

He was reportedly left feeling bruised after he wasn’t chosen to be partnered this year.

A source told The Sun that Neil became “paranoid” and “self-obsessed” when the show kicked off last year.

Reportedly, the source said: “He spent a lot of time bitching about the other dancers and would complain about Giovanni Pernice the most — even though they are mates.

“Neil would comment on what he was wearing and what he spent his money on.

“Strictly seems like an odd community, a bit like a cult. The dancers all love each other when they are together and hate each other when they are apart.
