The congregants of an Orange County church are being hailed as heroes after they hog-tied a gunman who went on a shooting spree on Sunday afternoon. One person was killed and five others were shot at the predominantly Asian-American church in Laguna Woods, California. The shooter, said to be an Asian male in his 60s, opened fire at around 1:25pm. About 40 people witnessed the violence but those who were present also helped to prevent further bloodshed by overpowering the him and then proceeded to tie him up, confiscating his weapons and restraining him until police arrived on the scene. Two handguns that were found on the shooter and were quickly removed. The majority of those inside the church were believed to be of Taiwanese descent and had gathered to honor a former pastor of the church for which a lunch reception was being held after Sunday morning's service. There was no word on a possible motive for the shooting which took place in Simpson Hall rather than the main auditorium where services are normally held. 

 The 2022 Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs) kicks off live at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday. Sean 'Diddy' Combs is hosting the evening, exactly 25 years since he won his first Billboard Music Award in 1997 for his multi-platinum album No Way Out.  The evening will honor the year's top performing artists on the Billboard Charts across all genres of music and showcase spectacular performances and surprise collaborations.

Accused gunman Payton Gendron (right) threatened to shoot up a high school last year. Police say Gendron, then-17, made a non-specific shooting threat in June 2021. He underwent a mental evaluation and was hospitalized for less than two days. After his release, Gendron had no further contact with law enforcement. NY Gov. Kathy Hochul has called for an investigation focusing on what could have been done to stop Gendron from shooting up a supermarket on Saturday.

Parents are slamming Joe Biden as 'beyond incompetent' amid the formula crisis. Biden claims the nationwide shortage should improve in the coming weeks. The FDA is working to streamline a process to get more formula on store shelves. The agency also plans to detail next week how manufacturers and suppliers abroad will be able to import their products into the U.S. However, despite efforts to get more formula to American consumers, manufacturers predict the shortage will continue throughout the end of the year. Angry parents are criticizing Biden for failing to act sooner and sending baby formula to the southern border.

Daughter Ashley Judd began the proceedings at the Music City's Ryman Auditorium and paid tribute to her mother, calling her 'every woman' for the things she'd been through and accomplished. 'Tonight, we are remembering an icon and a legend who left country music better than she found it,' Judd said. 'She was totally extraordinary. Judd then introduced her older sister, whom she referred to as 'the GOAT' or 'greatest of all time', Wynona, who performed The Judds' classic 'River of Time.'

The group Ruth Sent Us - in reference to late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg - announced the ban on a backup TikTok account Saturday. Ruth Sent Us has caused controversy several times, protesting at churches and at the homes of the current Supreme Court justices to protest the impending opinion that will overturn Roe v. Wade. 'Your account was permanently banned due to multiple violations of our Community Guidelines,' a screenshot posted Saturday by the 'backup' account called Ruth Sent U says. The group's most recent TikTok video showed activists in red capes, similar to the characters in Margaret Atwood's dystopian novel The Handmaid's Tale, protesting in front of a Catholic church, eventually walking in and disrupting services. 'For 2,000 years the Catholic Church has been an institution for the enslavement of women,' one of the protesters says in the video.

Speaking to CNN 's Jim Acosta on Sunday, America's top infectious disease expert teased he would likely resign before serving as an advisor to Trump again. Biden's Chief Medical Advisor and the 45th POTUS have a history of impasses. Fauci was sidelined by the Trump White House, rarely appearing in press briefings and kept from doing interviews with major news outlets. He spread his message about COVID through local news interviews and podcasts. Meanwhile, Trump made his displeasure with Fauci known, called him an 'idiot', and publicly mulled firing him - although that would have been difficult as Fauci is a career federal employee. Fauci, 82, has been the director of the National Institute of Allergies and Infectious Diseases since 1984. He was appointed as Chief Medical Advisor to the Biden administration in 2021. Fauci has spent decades advising U.S. presidents on disease outbreaks and became a known public figure during the outbreak of the AIDS epidemic.

Thirty-nine-year-old Abeba Davis says she was put through yet another traumatic experience by medical professionals at Queens Hospital Center just a week after she was sexually assaulted. Davis claims she visited the hospital's emergency room in January 2021, simply to obtain medication for her treatment following the assault. But when her social worker left the room momentarily, Davis was reportedly made to take her clothes off, given unknown pills, and ultimately committed to a psych ward where she was exposed to COVID-positive and mentally disturbed patients, the model claims. 'I'm begging. ''Please, I'm not crazy.'' And they're like, ''Yeah, yeah,'' because the person next to me is also saying they're not crazy,' Davis said. 'No one hears me, I was just like nothing to them. I was just a naked black girl sitting in the corner begging to get out saying, ''I'm not crazy. I'm not crazy.'''

The Ukrainian military claims the clip is from before the 12,490 ton cruiser, the flagship of Russia's Black Sea Fleet, sank (left). The crew member can be heard in the recording saying that the ship has been hit twice and it is now tilting on its side. Russia has previously claimed that the ship sank on April 14 after an ammunition explosion brought on by a storm. Ukraine has always claimed it used two R-360 Neptune anti-ship missiles to take down the vessel. Vladimir Putin's Black Fleet chief, Admiral Igor Osipov (inset), has also 'not been seen alive' since the sinking of the Moskva but the Kremlin denies he is dead. The ship (right before the sinking) became infamous for a clip of a Ukrainian soldier telling the Russian warship 'go f*** yourself'. It is the largest Russian warship to be sunk since World War II and the first of a similar size since ARA General Belgrano during the Falklands War in 1982.

A now viral video shows a woman named 'Jackie' surprised that her Lyft driver, James Bode, is white, and saying: 'You're like a normal guy. Like you speak English.' Bode could be seen in the dashcam footage asking the woman to repeat herself, and when she does, he informs her that he is no longer going to drive her and an unknown man, which seemed to upset the man, who threatened to punch Bode in the face and called him a 'n***** lover.' The woman was later identified as Jackie Harford, the owner of Fossils Last Stand in Catasauqua, Pennsylvania. After the video went viral, the bar received several one-star reviews on Yelp.

A California teenage drummer got up on stage to play with legendary rock band Pearl Jam at their show in Oakland on Friday night. The group had been performing without regular drummer Matt Cameron after testing positive for COVID-19, so other drummers had been filling in. Kai Neukermans, 18, who graduates high school this year, stepped in after Pearl Jam lead singer Eddie Vedder said his daughter knew of him. After hearing about their drummer situation, Neukermans sent her a video of himself playing a Pearl Jam song. Neukermans practiced the song with the band before the show and introduced him on stage in front of thousands of fans in a performance he will remember for the rest of his life.

This is the moment that plainclothes NYPD officers shot and killed a man who allegedly fired an airsoft gun at them in the Bronx Friday night. Surveillance footage shows the unidentified man, 51, walking down the sidewalk with a weapon in his hand at about 7pm. The man was carrying an airsoft pistol, which fire plastic pellets using a gas, spring or electrical system and are usually used for sport, target practice or paintball gaming. A plainclothes officer approaches from behind an outdoor seating area and appears to yell something while pointing his gun, according to video obtained by the New York Post. The man, who appears to have been startled by someone off camera, runs toward the officer and quickly collapses on the sidewalk. He pushes his weapon away from him as two other cops swarm in. He was shot five times in the torso. Eyewitnesses say police tried resuscitating the man on the scene. He was taken to Lincoln Hospital, where he died of his injuries. Crime in New York City is up 41.26 percent from this time last year. Last week, Mayor Eric Adams admitted that, 'The bad guys are outpacing us,' as he called for the Biden administration to revoke the federal firearms license of a manufacturer that sells parts and kits for ghost guns.

TyJuan Lafitte and Jeremiah Durham, both 17, and 15-year-old NaVaraya Lane escaped the Ware Youth Detention Center in Coushatta, Louisiana on Saturday. They were each serving time for violent felonies at the time of the escape, when surveillance footage shows that security officer Victoria Tune, 21, drove them away from the facility in a white 2010 Pontiac G6. Houston, Texas police were later able to track down that car to a local motel parking lot, and monitored the empty car for several hours on Sunday before they found the suspects and Tune walking back to it. They were then re-arrested at around 2pm and are facing additional charges for the escape. Tune is also going to be booked in Louisiana jail on three counts of accessory to escape.

Megan Barnard (pictured) has broken her silence after former Fox Sports reporter Tom Morris outed her in a leaked sexist video - with the broadcaster admitting she feared losing her job if her sexuality was public. Barnard, who has worked for the company since 2013, has been one of Australia's main sports presenters for women's cricket. She also hosts and presents news about the NRL for the station. Her former colleague Tom Morris was sacked after a leaked video surfaced where he revealed Barnard's sexual orientation to a Whatsapp group on social media. Speaking to Stellar magazine, Barnard said she feared publicly coming out because it could impact her career and gave an insight into her discovering her own sexuality. 'I knew I was gay from the age of 12... It was such a painful time during my teens, feeling what I was feeling and desperately wanting those thoughts to go away and to be like everyone else,' Barnard told the outlet.

Narciso Torres, 36, left, died when the single-engine Cessna 172 he was on lost engine power and crashed, hitting a minivan with three people inside on a Miami bridge Saturday afternoon. Authorities say they were able to pull the two other people on board the single-engine aircraft out of the rubble and transport them to local hospitals for their burns, and the three people in the minivan - including two young children - were also brought to a local hospital where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries.

A tiny shih tzu puppy has gone viral on TikTok for her daring and ingenious method of escape from their pen (right). Despite the walls of her enclosure being several times taller than dog, an indoor camera caught the pup pulling off a clever breakout. The dog bites the metal frame pen and drags one of the walls to the center (left).
